Every live source supports lookup by license number and search by business name. Coverage describes the datasets currently loaded in the production API, not every licensing authority in each state. Oregon coverage is limited to active statewide CCB endorsements. Virginia coverage is limited to current DPOR Board for Contractors business licenses.

Explore authorities and rollout status

Use a focused lookup for an individual record, then move to the dashboard or API when you need a repeatable workflow.

How records are handled

Source attribution

Live records come from California CSLB, Florida DBPR, New York City DCWP or DOB, Oregon CCB, Texas TDLR, Virginia DPOR, or Washington L&I. StateLicense returns the authority, license type, and jurisdiction when the source provides them.

Freshness

California, Oregon, Texas, Washington, and NYC DOB refresh daily. Florida, Virginia, and NYC DCWP refresh weekly. Use source_updated_at and last_updated to evaluate a specific record.

Normalization

Source labels and formats are mapped to stable API fields. A missing field is returned as unavailable rather than inferred.

Human review

Automated checks should route identity mismatches, adverse status, incomplete records, and high-risk decisions to a qualified reviewer.

Choose how you want to verify

Check individual records in the public lookup, use the web dashboard for ongoing manual work, or create a live API key to integrate verification into your product.
