1. Agreement to these terms
By accessing or using StateLicense, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you use the service for an organization, you represent that you have authority to accept these terms for that organization. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. The StateLicense service
StateLicense provides tools for finding and reviewing contractor-license information through a public website, authenticated dashboard, and API. Coverage, source authorities, update schedules, and known limitations are described on our Coverage & methodology page.
StateLicense is not a government agency, licensing authority, law firm, or consumer-reporting agency. Results are informational and may be delayed, incomplete, corrected, or unavailable. You are responsible for confirming material hiring, legal, safety, or compliance decisions with the responsible licensing authority and qualified professionals.
3. Accounts and security
You must provide accurate account information, keep credentials and API keys secure, and promptly notify us of suspected unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity performed through your account and keys.
4. Plans, requests, and billing
- The Free plan costs $0 and includes 25 dashboard or API requests per month. No credit card is required.
- The Pro plan costs $49 USD per month and includes 1,000 dashboard or API requests per month.
- Dashboard and API activity share the same monthly request allowance. Unused requests do not roll over.
- Pro renews automatically each month until canceled. Applicable taxes are calculated at checkout.
Paddle acts as merchant of record for paid transactions and securely processes payment information. Your purchase is also subject to the Paddle buyer terms presented at checkout. Prices and allowances may change prospectively, with notice where required.
5. Cancellation and refunds
You may cancel Pro through the billing portal. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period and prevents future renewal charges. Refund eligibility is governed by our Refund Policy, applicable law, and Paddle's buyer terms.
6. Acceptable use
You may not use StateLicense to:
- break the law, violate another person's rights, or facilitate fraud or discrimination;
- circumvent request limits, authentication, access controls, or security measures;
- interfere with the service, introduce malicious code, or test vulnerabilities without written permission;
- resell or reproduce substantial portions of the service or data except under a separate written agreement; or
- misrepresent StateLicense results as an official government determination or guarantee.
7. Intellectual property and feedback
StateLicense and its software, branding, documentation, and original content are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These terms grant only the limited right to use the service as described. If you provide feedback, you permit us to use it without restriction or compensation.
8. Availability, suspension, and termination
We may change, suspend, or discontinue parts of the service and may restrict access where reasonably necessary for security, maintenance, legal compliance, nonpayment, or a violation of these terms. You may stop using the service at any time.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, completeness, availability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. StateLicense is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or lost-profit damages arising from use of or inability to use the service. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Changes and contact
We may update these terms and will post the revised date on this page. Continued use after an update takes effect means you accept the revised terms. Questions may be sent to [email protected].
