Privacy Policy

This policy explains how StateLicense handles information when you visit or use our website, dashboard, and API.

Last updated: September 9, 2026

1. Information we collect

  • Account information: identity and contact information used to create and authenticate your account through Clerk.
  • Billing information: Paddle customer, transaction, and subscription identifiers and status. Paddle processes full payment-card details; StateLicense does not receive or store full card numbers.
  • Service activity: dashboard and API requests, license-search or verification parameters, usage counts, API-key status, and related timestamps.
  • Technical information: device, browser, network, IP-derived or pseudonymous anti-abuse identifiers, request logs, diagnostics, and security events.
  • Communications: information you send when requesting support, refunds, or other assistance.

2. How we use information

  • provide, authenticate, support, and improve StateLicense;
  • measure and enforce plan allowances and prevent misuse;
  • process subscriptions, maintain billing status, and respond to customer requests;
  • monitor reliability, investigate errors, and protect users and the service; and
  • comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.

3. Service providers and disclosure

We use service providers to operate StateLicense, including Clerk for authentication, Paddle for payments and subscription management, Sentry for error diagnostics, Umami for website analytics, and GetSiteControl for website engagement tools. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy notices and only for the functions they provide to us.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or security, in connection with a business transfer, or with your direction or consent. We do not sell personal information, and we do not receive full payment-card details.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

StateLicense and its providers may use cookies, browser storage, or similar technologies for authentication, security, checkout, preferences, support tools, and aggregate analytics. Browser controls may let you restrict some of these technologies, but doing so can affect account or checkout functionality.

5. Retention and security

We retain information for as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, maintain business and security records, meet legal obligations, and resolve disputes. Retention varies by data type and purpose. We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, but no system can guarantee absolute security.

6. International processing

StateLicense and its providers may process information in countries other than where you live. Where required, providers use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

7. Your choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of personal information, or to object or request portability. You may also cancel a subscription through the billing portal. To make a privacy request, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

8. Children

StateLicense is designed for business and professional use and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes and contact

We may update this policy and will post its revised date here. Questions and privacy requests may be sent to [email protected].
